ANDREW MACLELLAN

President, Scottford Enterprises & Discovery Destinations  | Strategic Partnerships

Born and raised in Mexico City, Mr. MacLellan has lived and worked in Europe, Latin America, the USA and has an immense multi-cultural background. He and his family currently reside in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. MacLellan’s experience spans more that thirty years in hotel management, development and renovation. For eighteen years, he worked his way through the ranks of Westin Hotels and Resorts to achieve the senior officer position in management of the resort division.

After developing the award winning Westin La Paloma, Tucson, Arizona; Mr. MacLellan created the resort division which included world class resorts such as the Muana Kua, Hawaii, Big Island; the Arizona Biltmore, Phoenix, Arizona; Las Brisas, Acapulco, Mexico; Las Hadas, Manzanillo, Mexico; and the Westin Kauai.

Mr. MacLellan became Vice President and Managing Director for Holiday Inn Worldwide (Bass PLC). The portfolio consisted of 131 Holiday Inns, ranging from limited-service to high-end Crowne Plaza hotels in Canada, USA, the Caribbean and Latin America. During his tenure they launched the first three Holiday Inn Express properties starting a brand that has been very successful.

Mr. MacLellan founded The Austin Lomas Group. ALG owned and managed 11 hotels and was a partner with Robert Redford in the Sundance Resort, Sundance Utah.

He also founded Scottford Enterprises, L.L.C. Scottford Enterprises was contracted by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games to provided accommodations services to approximately 13,000 officials, press, staff, volunteers and other guests for the Olympic Games.

Mr. MacLellan was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Dolce International, the global leader in the Conference Center Hotels & Resort business. After joining Dolce, the company went from 10 hotels to 27 hotels, resorts and conference centers and is now represented in 8 countries with revenues topping 300M / year. He played integral part in building the brand.

In 2001, Mr. MacLellan became Vice Chairman and President. During his tenure, Dolce established itself as the premiere Conference and Resort Destination Company in Europe and the USA. Dolce is the only International Company that specifically targeted the large multi-national corporations for conference business.

Scottford now specialises in the Management, Asset Management, Development and Consulting on Hotel and Resort Properties and Communities. Most recently, Scottford did the pre-development work on the Lodge for Jet Blue Airways in Orlando, the Development plan for Domaine de la Brie (near Euro-Disney), the development plan for the mixed use development in the French Quarter of New Orleans, pre-development for the University of Kentucky Hotel and Conference Center, and Development plan for the Prescott Hotel and Conference Center to name a few.

In 2006, Scottford was responsible for the development for Cinnamon Shore, a New Urbanism beachside community on the Texas coast of Mustang Island, near Port Aransas, Texas (See www.cinnamonshore.com). This development has gone into the third and final phase, and Scottford managed the vacation rental management for Cinnamon Shore. Currently, Scottford is developing the Merrill Hotel and Conference Center in Muscatine, IA, due to open November 2017.

In addition, Mr. MacLellan was co-founder of Griffin Realty Advisors, a value-add Real Estate fund that he sold to Jamestown Properties in 2008.

Finally, Mr. MacLellan is the President and co-founder of Discovery Destinations Hotels and Resorts, www.discoverydestinations.com, a worldwide brand of experiential 4 Star+ hotels and resorts. Discovery Communications (Discovery Channel, TLC, Planet Earth, Animal Planet and over 200 channels worldwide) is the licensor of the brand as a new foray into the travel sector for the media giant.
